Ever wondered how a giant, forest-carrying mammoth comes to life? It’s not just magic; it’s a journey of iteration, Slack polls, and creative tug-of-wars. Let’s dive into the design evolution of Mammorest (グランモス)
Mammorest .
1. The Spark of an Idea
It all started in the most modern way possible: a rough sketch posted on Slack.
The Dino-Rock: One designer shared a "huge dinosaur" concept featuring minerals and stones embedded in its back.
The Forest Turtle: Simultaneously, another sketch floated around—a "giant turtle" acting as a walking ecosystem with trees growing from its shell.
2. Finding the Motif: Enter the Mammoth
As the ideas brewed, the team pivoted toward a Mammoth silhouette.
The AD Touch: When the Art Director stepped in, the vision crystallized. He blended the original "minerals on the back" idea with the mammoth's massive frame.
The Great Debate: Two versions emerged: Model C and Model D. An internal survey split the office! Ultimately, Model D won because its silhouette felt more "3D" and impactful.
3. The Devil in the Details
With the shape locked, the focus shifted to "Nature and Earth." The designers experimented with how lush the greenery on its back should be and toyed with adding intricate patterns to its leg joints to give it an ancient, weathered feel.
4. Crossing the Finish Line
Final Polish: The leg patterns were finalized to look like solid rock. One last internal Slack vote gave Mammorest the "green light."
Handover: The Art Director created the final orthographic drawings (the front, side, and back views) to hand off to the 3D modeling team. They even spent extra time debating the exact placement of the eyes to ensure it looked both majestic and a bit mysterious.
