Pocketpair is gearing up for the massive 1.0 launch of Palworld, aiming to deliver the "ideal survival crafting experience" that fans have always dreamed of. Beyond the major content overhaul, the studio also reveals its openness to partnering with the right developers to expand the Palworld universe through exciting spin-off projects.
Redefining the Survival Crafting Genre
During an interview at GDC, John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair’s head of publishing, shared that Palworld 1.0 will be a game for everyone. "Survival crafting is a very unique genre... every gamer has their ideal version of what it should be, and we hope Palworld 1.0 will be that kind of something for everyone," Buckley explained. He confidently stated that the full release will be the "survival crafting game everyone always wanted."
A Complete Overhaul: Why Starting Fresh is Recommended
While details remain "top secret," Buckley teased that version 1.0 will flesh out every stage of the game—from early to end-game. Although players can keep their current characters, the team "softly recommends" starting a new journey. "Everything is going to change from the beginning to the end. We've expanded the end-game, improved the early game, and added more depth to the middle game," Buckley added.
Open Doors for Spin-off Partnerships
Perhaps most excitingly for the future of the franchise, Buckley expressed a willingness to see the Palworld IP grow through external collaborations. He mentioned that the studio would be "happy to hand the IP over" to the right developer for a spin-off project, as long as it’s something the community truly desires. This opens up endless possibilities for the world of Pals to expand into new genres and styles under the guidance of talented partner studios.
